For over 50 years, Apogee companies have been providing distinctive solutions for the glass product, technology and service industries. Starting from a single glass shop in 1949, Apogee has grown into an industry leader.

1960 -1969

1966 - Harmon opens its first shop outside Minnesota in Des Moines, Iowa.

1968 - Wausau Metals Corporation, an aluminum window company, is acquired.

1968 - With annual sales approaching $4 million, Apogee Enterprises, Inc. is established as the parent company to oversee the various businesses that have grown out of Harmon Glass.

1969 - Viracon is formed to fabricate architectural glass for commercial buildings.
