1980 -1989

1981 - Apogee makes a secondary offering of 430,000 shares of stock.

1982 - Annual sales reach $106.2 million.

1983 - Increased demand by architects for window frames with different colors leads to the formation of Linetec, a toll finisher.

1986 - A 1986 book named Apogee as one of America's best performing companies. During the previous 10 years, Apogee had averaged a rate of 23 percent annual compound growth for sales and 21 percent for net earnings.

1987 - Apogee becomes increasingly international as Viracon provides glass for the world's largest skylight in Seoul, Korea, in time for the 1988 Summer Olympics.

1988 - Viratec Thin Films is formed to develop high-performance glass coatings for consumer electronics products.

1989 - Annual sales zoom to $433.7 million.
