As a company, Apogee encourages employees to make a positive difference in our communities. This can be done in a multitude of ways, whether it is hands-on activities coordinated through ASIST, or financial support for worthwhile non-profit organizations.

Each year Apogee supports and solicits employees to participate in the United Way. This campaign is conducted in the fall, with the objective of 100 percent participation. This is the only company-wide, non-profit solicitation program endorsed by Apogee.

The ASIST program (Apogee & Subsidiaries In-Service Team) is an Apogee employee volunteer organization. It provides opportunities to help the community through active volunteer participation. ASIST is a great way to get to know co-workers, and at the same time lend a hand to those in need.

Annual events supported by ASIST include Special Olympics, monthly soup kitchens, the Emergency Foodshelf Network and holiday gifts for families in need. Many of our business units also participate in various American Cancer Society events, such as Relay for Life and Daffodil Days.

Apogee supports innovative cancer research, with particular emphasis on leukemia, at the University of Minnesota Cancer Center, a nationally recognized leader in research of leukemia and blood disorders and diseases. To commemorate the company's 50th anniversary in 1999, Apogee made a $500,000 gift to establish an endowed faculty position, entitled "the Apogee Enterprises Professorship in Cancer Research." In 2001, Apogee increased its commitment with another $500,000 gift to create the "Apogee Enterprises Chair in Cancer Research." This continuing support demonstrates Apogee's commitment to truly make a difference in the world.
