Apogee fostering diversity to benefit employees, company

Apogee has long been committed to hiring people of diverse backgrounds. In fact, 12 languages are spoken in the company's businesses located in the United States. To formalize this commitment, Apogee has established a diversity initiative to further foster an inclusive environment that offers employees more opportunities and strengthens Apogee's business.

Through this formal focus on diversity, Apogee is striving to increase sales to new markets and customers, offer expanded challenges and opportunities to employees, and increase shareholder value. The company's diversity initiative has included a cultural audit, training for all employees and formation of diversity councils at its businesses. Diversity councils, made up of a diverse cross section of each locations' employee population, are focused on efforts and programs to increase the valuing of diversity and inclusion at their locations. Council efforts have ranged from expanding translation services for quarterly meetings and safety training, gender awareness training and cultural awareness programs, to establishing prayer rooms for religions that formally pray throughout the workday and developing a mentoring program.
