According to the USGBC, newly constructed buildings rated LEED-Silver have demonstrated 32 percent energy savings compared to national averages. Green and LEED-rated buildings also have shown reductions in carbon emissions by 35 percent, water use by 50 percent and construction waste by 50 percent. Wausau estimates its utility savings will exceed $90,000 annually.
