Apogee's Wausau Window and Wall Systems moved into a new, 370,000-square-foot manufacturing center and office building in Wausau, WI in the second half of calendar 2008.

The building was designed and constructed to meet LEED-Silver certification. According to the USGBC, newly constructed buildings rated LEED-Silver have demonstrated 32 percent energy savings compared to national averages. Green and LEED-rated buildings also have shown reductions in carbon emissions by 35 percent, water use by 50 percent and construction waste by 50 percent. Wausau estimates its utility savings will exceed $90,000 annually.

Features contributing to Wausau's green manufacturing facility include:
