Apogee Enterprises, Inc. Elects New Board Member

Apogee Enterprises, Inc. today at its annual meeting of shareholders elected Ray C. Richelsen, to its Board of Directors.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, June 20, 2000 – Apogee Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ: APOG) today at its annual meeting of shareholders elected Ray C. Richelsen, 58, to its Board of Directors. Mr. Richelsen is executive vice president, Transportation, Graphics and Safety Markets for 3M, a diversified manufacturing company with 1999 sales of $15.7 billion headquartered in St. Paul, MN.

“Ray Richelsen is an excellent addition to our board, bringing 37 years experience in a large multi-national company,” said Russell Huffer, Apogee chairman, president and chief executive officer. “His expertise will be invaluable to Apogee as we move to enhance our business growth, particularly in the technology realm where 3M is so very well respected.”

Throughout his career, Richelsen, who started at 3M as a project engineer, primarily has been involved with 3M’s reflective materials business. Prior to his current position, he led the Traffic and Personal Safety Markets Group, National Advertising and Media Networks, Memory Technologies Group, and Traffic Control Materials Division. From 1987 to 1991, Richelsen was managing director of 3M France, one of 3M’s biggest international companies. He has announced he will retire from 3M August 1, 2000.
