Apogee Enterprises Retired Chairman to Sell 150,000 Apogee Shares

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov 16, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Apogee Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq:APOG) announced that Donald W. Goldfus, who retired as chairman in 1999 and continues to serve as a director, has entered into a Rule 10b5-1 sales plan through March 31, 2002, under which he is eligible to sell up to 150,000 shares in open market transactions at a price not less than $14.75 per share.

Goldfus, 67, indicated the sales plan is part of his estate planning. He currently holds about 2.5 percent of Apogee's outstanding shares, or 707,231 shares, including 120,000 shares held by his wife for which he disclaims beneficial ownership. Goldfus' planned sales will equal about 21 percent of his holdings. He said he intends to diversify his portfolio in a careful manner that creates opportunity for new investors and minimizes market impact for long-term investors, employees and other stakeholders.
