Introduction to the SAVE Form

Marketplace demands, along with increased competition, require that Apogee Enterprises and its suppliers work together to improve our mutual competitiveness by eliminating waste, lowering total cost, and continually improving overall value to customers. Supplier innovations, creativity, and expertise are recognized by Apogee as valuable resources that must be fully utilized in the era of global competitiveness.

The SAVE program promotes and supports our Supply Policy based on open communication, trust, and mutual respect with our suppliers.

Results of SAVE will provide mutual benefits through:

  • -Total cost reductions
  • -Waste elimination
  • -Quality improvements
  • -Design improvements

Purpose of SAVE

The SAVE program creates a process which encourages our suppliers to submit supplier-initiated value enhancement suggestions. Some of the questions and suggestions suppliers might consider include:

  • -Is there a standard part that can be satisfactorily substituted for this part?
  • -Would a relaxation of any tolerances result in lower manufacturing costs?
  • -Are there suggestions for design changes that will lower the cost of this item?
  • -Is there any material substitute?
  • -Are there any finish requirements that could be eliminated or relaxed?
  • -Are there any suggestions which might save weight, simplify the part, or reduce the cost?
  • -Are there new technologies that increase functionality or reduce cost?
  • -Could we reduce cost by changing packaging or using returnable containers?
